Kevin Hackett – President
Kevin started his building career soon after graduating from Appalachian State University in 1997. Kevin moved to Asheville with his wife and spent four years working with a construction consulting firm. In 2002, he realized he wanted a more hands on, personally involved position within the construction industry, and moved to Charlotte to work as a Project Manager with a national home builder. Over the next four years, he completed more that 150 homes in the South Charlotte area.
After gaining strong experience running multiple projects, he returned to Asheville in 2006 and began working on large custom residential projects in the Cliffs Communities. In short time he realized there was a lack of high end custom homes being built with smaller budgets in mind, and Longview Builders was realized in early 2007. Kevin is a licensed general contractor and hands-on owner. He has a keen eye for design aesthetic and works hand in hand with architects and designers. A stickler for accuracy and efficiency, his straightforward approach brings projects in on time and on budget.
Kevin is a North Carolina native and has lived in the mountains of Western NC since 1993. His family of five is a part of the Asheville community in schools, sports, and local charities.
Eric Schenk – Construction Manager
Eric began his building career in Chicago in 1991 working for a design/build architect focusing on residential renovations and work/live loft spaces. During that time Eric also apprenticed for a custom cabinetry company, gaining finer, more detailed carpentry skills.
After moving to the Atlanta, GA area Eric worked at a commercial construction company building offices and restaurants, working his way up from carpenter to project manage. Eric branched out on his own in 1994, continuing to concentrate on remodeling & renovating in the Buckhead & North Fulton County areas. Business grew steadily by word of mouth and Eric continued to work on single projects at a time, devoting his full attention to each client.
After becoming a father to two boys and realizing a desire to live in the beautiful mountains of NC, Eric Schenk Carpentry relocated to Asheville in 2001. Soon Eric was running a small crew framing new houses. Projects ranged from 800 to 15,000 square feet; from simply designed, straight-forward living spaces to intricate & complex luxury homes. The company was involved in all aspects of building, from foundation to finish. Obtaining his General Contractor’s license in 2009 was a milestone, and Eric continues to study building code, sustainable building, and building science. In 2014 Eric teamed up with Kevin Hackett of Longview Builders. The combination of companies creates a strong custom home building force.
